The award goes to the individual who best supports the club, through volunteering, engagement, involvements.

Shawn Mackay Club Player of the Year Award
The award goes to the player who shows qualities such as leadership, sportsmanship and co-operation.

Chris Whittaker Award
The award goes to a player that shows the most potential in a minis team (U6-U9). Could include, playing capabilities, attitude to training, attention to coaching, eagerness to improve, etc

Col Windon Award
The award goes to a player that shows the most potential in a junior team (U10-U12). Could include, playing capabilities, attitude to training, attention to coaching, eagerness to improve, focus, etc

Exceptional Achievement Award
This is an award for a player who has performed at a high level for the club, potentially achieved at a representative level, volunteered for other teams, helped across the club, various ways they could meet “Exceptional Achievement”

Greg Killeen Award for the Most Improved Minis Team (U6-U9)
Could be most improved year on year, or from start to end of season. Results or teamwork and play

Wally Meagher Award for the Most Improved Junior Team (U10-U12)
Could be most improved year on year, or from start to end of season. Results or teamwork and play

Kelly Clifton Award for Exceptional Female Player Achievement
The award goes to the female player who shows the most talent, season performances in the current year.

Morgan Turinui Award — Coach of the Year
The award goes to a coach across Clovelly, who has developed their team significantly, given a lot to the club across coaching, shown the qualities of a good coach for junior rugby


Our 2024 Award Winners

Here’s a closer look at our award recipients and what they’ve accomplished:

The Patrons Cup: U11 White
The Eagles U11 White team exemplifies our club motto “Play to Win, Learn to Lose.” The U11 Whites are a tenacious team that can triumph over any opponent on their day, but they always compete. They give their all for their coaches and each other.

Club Supporter of the Year: Mary Weaver
This award goes to the individual who best supports the club through volunteering, engagement and involvement. Mary’s impact this year has been immense. A dedicated worker, she strives for quality in everything she does, challenging the status quo and asking important questions. She took on the responsibility of club communications in 2024 and helped wherever she could.

Shawn Mackay Club Player of the Year Award: Jude McDermott
This award is given to the player who demonstrates qualities such as leadership, sportsmanship and co-operation. Jude has been with the club since the U6s and concludes this year after his last season at U12. He has captained his team for several years and gives everything he can for his team, the club and Randwick. He is a great team leader who always strives for the best and is a pleasure to coach.

Chris Whittaker Award: Luke Manu
This award recognises the player with the most potential in a minis team (U6-U9), considering attributes like playing ability, attitude to training and eagerness to improve. Luke has stood out in the Under 9s, scoring an impressive 33 tries on Saturdays, and he added 11 tries in the U10s on Friday nights, totalling 44 tries this season. His outstanding performance also earned him a spot on the Randwick Development Squad for 2024 in the Under 10s. A remarkable talent.

Col Windon Award: Nathaniel Tauheluhelu
This award acknowledges a player who shows the most potential in a junior team (U10-U12). Among numerous deserving candidates, Nathaniel has distinguished himself over the past two years as a cornerstone of his team. He possesses a strong rugby IQ and impact, along with humility and emotional intelligence that enriches his teammates.

Exceptional Achievement Award: Harlow Taylor
This award honours a player who has excelled at a high level for the club and has potentially achieved recognition at a representative level while also contributing through volunteering. Harlow is a dedicated athlete who never misses training and plays generously. She has represented Randwick multiple times in both the U12 Green Rep team and the U14 Girls Rep side. Additionally, she was selected for the Sydney Catholic School Boys U12 League team and won the PSSA 7s State Cup with the Mackillip Girls 7s team, culminating in her selection for the NSW PSSA State Girls 7s team.

Greg Killeen Award for the Most Improved Minis Team (U6-U9): U8 Black
This award is given to the minis team that has shown the most improvement year on year or from the start to the end of the season. The U8 Black team has exhibited tremendous growth, demonstrating a strong bond and culture, all thanks to their dedicated management. Their love for rugby is evident on the pitch, marked by consistent effort and an attractive style of play.

Wally Meagher Award for the Most Improved Junior Team (U10-U12): U12 Blue
This award goes to the junior team that has demonstrated significant improvement either year on year or throughout the season. The U12 Blue team has had an outstanding season in 2024, showcasing remarkable results and dominating their competition. With exceptional coaches and a highly committed parent group, their talent across the board has led to a truly memorable season.

Kelly Clifton Award for Exceptional Female Player Achievement: Saoirse Brady
This award recognises the female player who has demonstrated the most talent and outstanding performance during the current season. Saoirse has showcased remarkable skill on the field, including impressive footwork and determination in tackles. Her passion for the game and overall sportsmanship are commendable.

Morgan Turinui Award – Coach of the Year: Matthew Dawson
This award recognises a coach across Clovelly who has significantly developed their team and made substantial contributions to the club. This year presented a tough choice with two outstanding candidates, one being Cameron Ireland, who led his premiership-winning team to success while fostering camaraderie. The 2024 winner, Matthew, coached two age groups and instilled a love for rugby in his players, promoting teamwork and enjoyment throughout the season. He tirelessly assists the club and his teams, guiding the U10 Development Team to an undefeated Gala event. A true rugby enthusiast and reliable leader.
